We are looking down on some metal parts that are being built up as thin as 1/40,000th of an inch at a time. You can see that the machine deposits a fine dusting like a Zamboni on an ice rink. Then the laser welds the particles to the layer below. They start with a birds nest of metal which is easily separable on the bottom. We 3D printed many of our parts in nylon during developement of the the aluminum hand truck lines.
